Holiday Bible Club

2nd-6th July 2012

Another successful Holiday Bible Club took place from 2nd July – 6th July.

With the Olympics taking place in London this year we used material produced jointly by Go Teach and CEF entitled Run the Race.

Most children love races and taking part in races.  The theme this year compared the Christian life to a race.  Through the different sessions we were able to encourage the children to be in the right race and receive the best prize ever, knowing it was really won for them by the Supreme Champion Jesus.

On Monday we looked at Jesus the Supreme Champion who finished his own special race for us, so that we could begin ours.  “Christ died for sins once for all … to bring you to God.”

Philip and the Ethiopian was the main Bible story on Tuesday.  Through this story we learnt that the Bible shows us what Jesus has done so that we can join the race.  We trust that the children will understand and accept the importance of what the God says In the Bible.

The children were encouraged on Wednesday to start on the right track by trusting in Christ alone.  The Bible story we taught was Saul’s conversion on the road to Damascus.  It was there that Saul realised that Jesus is the only way, the truth and the life.

Looking at the life of Peter on Thursday showed us all how we keep on track and stay in the race with God’s help.  “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us”.

On Friday the story of Stephen showed us how we finish the race when we get to heaven.  Heaven is a far better reward than any award an athlete may win.

We met each morning from 10.00am – 12.00 and throughout the week we registered 104 children.  They were very attentive during our Bible story times.

The children were also involved in chorus singing, learning memory verses, taking part in quizzes, craft, snack time and completing activity books.

Many of our games and activities were based around Olympic events.

Many thanks to all the hard working leaders who give up their time and used their talents for a busy week of evangelism and teaching.
