1st Armagh Boys’ Brigade Celebrate 111th Display

A large number of family and friends of 1st Armagh Boy’s Brigade Company attended the annual inspection and display in The Mall Presbyterian Church Memorial Halls.

Mr Trevor Boyd, Assistant Minister at The Mall Presbyterian Church , was the inspecting officer for the evening.  Rev. Peter Gamble (Company Chaplin) led the opening devotions.  Following the inspection Mrs Boyd presented the badges and awards to the boys of the company.

After the distribution of awards, the audience was treated to an entertaining and energetic programme presented by the whole company.  The Company Section opened the programme with their Drill Routines.

After the Company Section, it was the Anchor Boy’s time to shine!   They entertained the audience with a drama retelling the story of “David and Goliath” and two songs about “David and Goliath and “The Walls of Jericho.” The Junior Section energetically followed with a variety of games and even included some reluctant parents!!  The Company Section treated the audience with a sketch entitle “He Who Laughs Last.”

The Junior Section then entertained the audience with the retelling of Paul and Silas‘ time in prison.  The Company Section PE item followed and included games such as dribbling a lemon up the Hall with a Hockey stick and sitting on a piece of carpet and skidding up the Hall.  The boys were joined through out the games by some parents and some members of the Platform Party.  To end the programme the Junior Section showed off their marching skills by performing a challenging Figure Marching Programme.

In his Inspecting Officers Remarks Mr Boyd congratulated the boys on their turn out and performances on the floor.  Presentations were awarded to Mrs. E. Barbour and Mrs. M Walker who after many years service are retiring from the Anchor Boys.   The evening was brought to a close with the Benediction and the National Anthem.
