1st Armagh Boys’ Brigade Display 2012

A large number of family and friends of 1st Armagh Boy’s Brigade Company attended the annual inspection and display in The Mall Presbyterian Church Memorial Halls.

Mr Roger Knipe, a former boy of the Company and now an officer with the 38th Belfast Company , was the inspecting officer for the evening.  Rev. Peter Gamble (Company Chaplin) led the opening devotions.  Following the inspection Mrs Knipe presented the badges and awards to the boys of the company. This year, to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, each Boy and Officer were also presented with a special Diamond Jubilee Badge.

After the distribution of awards, the audience was treated to an entertaining and energetic programme presented by the whole company.  The Company Section opened the programme with their Drill Routines.

After the Company Section, it was the Anchor Boy’s time to shine!   They did a short performance about the months of the year. The Junior Section energetically followed with a variety of games and even included some reluctant parents!!  The Company Section treated the audience with a sketch entitle “Socks.”

The Junior Section then entertained and informed the Audience with Facts about the Books of the Bible and then retold the story of Jonah, finishing off by singing a song about Jonah set to the tune of “Jesus Loves Me.”  With their socks now sorted, the Company Section now treated the audience to the perfect answer to the question “Why are you Late for Work?”  To end the programme the Junior Section showed off their marching skills by performing a challenging Figure Marching Programme.

In his Inspecting Officers Remarks Mr Knipe congratulated the boys on their turn out and performances on the floor.  He told the boys and the audience about his time in the drill squad and other stories from his time in the Company.   The evening was brought to a close with the Benediction and the National Anthem.
